Keep calm overnight oats for stress & mood
If you are feeling the stress at the moment supporting your nervous system and mood with the right kind of food is essential. This recipe is no fuss and contains important anti anxiety and mood boosting ingredients:
- Raw cacao contains serotonin (which improves the mood and decreases stress), anandamide (a “bliss” chemical that produces a feeling of euphoria), and theobromine (a mild stimulant sometimes used to treat depression). It also contains stress-reducing valeric acid and magnesium. Raw cacao also contains lots of flavanols (due to less processing) that support cognitive function.
- Oats are a slow release energy that supports mood and calm. It also can give you a boost of brain chemical serotonin that can lift your mood.
- Bananas are rich in Vitamin B6, which helps synthesise feel-good neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin.
The flavour is delicious with the cacao, banana and honey combining into a rich, wholesome goodness.
Top with nuts and seeds and some extra Greek yoghurt or heat in the microwave if you prefer the oats hot.
